The topic of this Bachelor thesis is International trade in military material of the Czech Republic. At the beginning the legal regulation of the export of these products and their classification is described. The work then deals with the historical signifi-cance of the arms industry in the world, but also in the Czech Republic. It is not only about its role, but also focuses on various situations, that have affected the demand and production of this type of goods. The work also mentions important companies in this sector, both and the world and in the Czech Republic. An essential part of the whole work is analysis of the international trade of the Czech Republic selected products be-longs under military material, which will be performed using indicators of import, export, sales, balance, trade balance index and trade coverage index. The comparative advantage is shown graphically using the Lafay index. With these indicators, the Czech Republic will be represented as an exporter that has been active on foreign mar-kets in recent years.

Legal limits of the cross-border movement of military materials The global trade with military materials is an important, however often under- researched, area of academic enquiry. Such attitude is not correct, because in fact it is a massive global industry in which also Czech companies play a significant role. Given the newspaper headlines and statements of arms dealer, it is obvious there have long been unsolved problems burdening arms dealers caused especially by an inappropriate legal framework. This theses aims to provide an analysis of legal framework in respect to cross-border movement of military materials covering especially European and Czech legislation focusing on its potential limits arising and important for arms dealers. On a global international level the Arms Trade Treaty and other relevant treaties regulating international trade with military materials are identified and described. Attention is also paid to limitations of arms trade such as embargoes or restrictive measures imposed by the UN and the EU respectively as well as to limitations resulting from domestic and European legislation or from its different interpretation. 1 Resume in English International trade in military materials from the perspective of Czech law The goal of this thesis is, mainly, to introduce laws and legal mechanisms governing this part of international trade with focus on export from Czech republic, mainly outside European Union. Thesis consists from 3 major logical parts divided to 8 chapters, that goes from theory of laws of private international law, thru description of current legislation, both Czech and European, to public procurement according to European directives and latest cases of European Court of Justice. First major part deals, apart from theory of international private law, with description of defence equipment excluded from trade, also describes defence equipment as it is defined by current Czech legislation, and briefly shows history of Czech law of international trade with defence equipment. Under the definition of defence equipment is also brief notice about possibility that some firearms can be in one moment seen as defence, or military, equipment, and in the second moment as a firearms intended for civilan use. Legal aspects of the international trade of arms

The aim of my rigorous thesis is to describe issue of regulation of the international trade of arms focused on the Czech legal regulation. Rigorous thesis is focused on the basic information in the field of the legal and illegal arm trafficking. First part (chapter 1, 2, 3) concerns the security risks of trade of arms, maps the development of the arm trafficking, the present state of this area and structure of the arm trafficking. The second part (chapter 4, 5, 6) describes the legal framework of the international trade of arms. It is focused on the international legal regulations including regimes of control, communitary law and country legislation. There is given the analysis of the particular field concerning the arm trafficking and at the end there is always given a part of the administrative punishment. The end of the second part does not miss the comparison of the legal regulation within the neighbouring countries. Next part (chapter 7) refers about the topic by criminally legal protection. Generally there are described facts given by Penal Code with referenc to its amend. Conclusions are drawn in the last part (chapter 8). There is summarized the findings about problems with regulation of the international trade of arms and their possible solutions.

Legal regulation of international trade in military material and civilian weapons The thesis focuses on the comparison of regulations governing international trade with weapons of military and non-military character. The area under consideration is, given the character of the commodity traded, a specific area of international trade in which there are a number of legal norms regulating this area. The analysis and comparison of the legal standards in question is based on international, European and national legislation, with an emphasis on internal interconnection of individual legal norms in order to better understanding and relevance to the international arms trade. The thesis consists of several chapters that are thematically related. The first chapter deals with the theoretical definition of international arms trade with a focus on private international law. Particular attention is paid to the international purchase agreement and international transport agreements that will be applied in the course of the implementation of the arms trade. The second chapter focuses on defining the term "weapon" and its definition in the most important international conventions dealing with weapons. The relashionship of China and Israel in context of arms and technology transfers

This thesis is focused on the bilateral relationship between The People's Republic of China and the State Israel. The aim of this thesis is to answer the question how arms and technology transfers influence this relationship. This question will be answered at the background of the two cancelled contracts of supply of the military material to China, specifically AWACS Phalcon and modernization of Harpy drones. It has been established after the analysis that the cancellation of the contracts led to short-term cooling of the relationship between both states. One of the outcomes of this incident was also the discontinuation of all arms transfers to China from Israel.
Trade in military material: the Czech and Slovak law perspective

This thesis focuses on the mutual comparison of the Czech and Slovak legislation in field of international trade in military material and its purposes is to identify which one of the legislations is more arms businessmen friendly in terms of legally-administrative costingness. The paper consists of three main parts. The first part is dedicated to the theoretic frame of the legal regulations in question with emphasis on the private international law. It contains the definitions of the well-known terms such as arms, trade in arms or military material. The second part focuses on international legal basics of the issue in question with respect to the most noted international treaties or key European regulation forming core of the trade in military material. The third part of the thesis compares the acts on international trade with military material in the Czech and Slovak Republic.
